"Emotional Check-In/Out" Worksheet


Level 1

Use the “Emotional Check-In / Out” worksheet as students enter and exit the classroom each day. 

Overview: 
Choose the appropriate worksheet level (1-3) based on the needs of your students.   

Level 1 worksheets might be used with younger students or with students with limited receptive and expressive language skills.  Level 1 sheets include pictures of each emotion.

Level 2 worksheets do not include pictures of emotions.  Students are also required to write down why they are feeling a certain emotion. 

Level 3 worksheets include a larger bank of emotion words.

This worksheet can be used to:

  1. Promote self-assessment.
  2. Support generalization.
  3. Promote group discussions / activities.
  4. Remediate periods of high anxiety or frustration in school setting.
  5. Help the student and instructor identify possible “Home Emotions” (see Home Emotions section for more).
