Rewards

Examples include:

  • Smile
  • High five
  • Handshake
  • Words of encouragement
  • Notes/Phone calls home
  • Free time
  • Being the first to leave
  • Special luncheon

The best rewards are:
  • Result of a desired behavior/action
  • Reasonable and logical
  • Clearly explained when rules are developed
  • Posted
  • Associated with classroom rules
  • Shared and supported by administrators and parents
  • Indicate a time factor associated with it (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)
  • Earned, not given
  • Provide feedback to individuals as well as the whole class
