Strategies for Impulsive Students

These students tend to blurt out or interrupt the teacher or classmates.

• Use humor
• Acknowledge hand raising
• Provide visual reminders to raise hand
• Reinforce the expected behavior
• Place sticky notes on desk and require student to touch them prior to raising hand
• Provide an alternate activity
• Allow for movement
• Design a Contract for waiting
• Gradually increase wait time
