Behavior Strategies

Magic Tricks - The Grid

The Grid is easy to use and the possibilities are numerous! Using large graph chart paper, write letters on the top of the Grid (A-H, for instance), and numbers along the left side (1-8, for instance)*. When a student demonstrates the desired behavior, allow the student to write his or her initials in one of the squares. When the grid is full, choose a student to blindly draw coordinates; e.g. "D-5." The student with initials in that square receives a prize. The children quickly learn the expectations of their behavior, as well as the lesson of probability!
